Listening to Moore in action is simply painful.

From TIME Magazine:

TIME: But aren’t you really a model capitalist? You raise money. You hire people. You create a product and sell it to the public, bearing the risk and gaining the rewards that goes along with it.

MM: “Capitalism would have never let me be a filmmaker, living in Flint, Michigan with a high school education. I was going to have to make that happen myself.”

So let’s get this straight. If the man’s just a simp from Flint with nothing but a high school education, how is it that he turned out so well despite growing up in this horrible, avaricious nation? How about a welfare-class simp from Upstate NY with nothing but a high school education? How did I escape the evil, vicious jaws of the Bourgeoisie?

It must be that Mr. Moore and (to a lesser extent) myself are just plum lucky. What a coincidence.

“If I were a capitalist I would not give my employees health insurance with no deductible, which I do, including dental, and paid pregnancy leave.”

Oh, really? Then I guess the owners of the largest wine conglomerate in the world must not be “capitalists” either, Michael, because as a starting manual laborer working for that conglomerate (as recently as 2005)–I got ALL THOSE THINGS (well, not pregnancy leave, but you take what you can get).

“That’s not called capitalism, that’s called being a Christian and someone who believes in democracy.”

WHOA. Wait a minute. Are you telling us that our religious values should play a role in how we treat our employees? That seems like it might be a dangerous precedent in this country, Mike, you fuckin’ hypocrite.

But no, let’s follow Moore’s chicken-little flailing. Lets artificially redistribute wealth, because there’s absolutely no chance that the people in charge of the distribution will be corrupt, right?

When we ask the government to step in and fight our battles against big corps., there’s no chance at all that the government will instead make DEALS with those corporations, right?

Want justice? Ask your fellow citizens (who, in an info-rich Democracy, have NO EXCUSES not to be informed) not to be blind consumers. You’re not ever going to balance corporate power by asking the Federal Government for help against them. You’re not ever going to end your own exploitation by creating regulations that AREN’T ENFORCED by the corrupt individuals you’re electing to protect you from the horrors of real life. They only climb in bed together.

Moore is right about one thing and one thing alone: the bailout should have never happened. The sad part of his fanbase is that a lot of the liberals who extoll Mr. Moore’s smug chortling are the same Democrats responsible for electing the DEMOCRATIC congressional leaders who PUSHED for the banking stimulus along with Mr. Bush.

But no, he’s brilliant. Capitalism is evil, and I’m even willing to let him prove his principles:

After I grab a torrent of his new movie off the internet, I’ll be waiting for him to come to my rescue from the evil money-grubbing capitalists who try to tell me I’m going to jail for 10 years and paying a $500,000 fine for illegally copying his 2 hours of whining.
